      My Personal Loan Office (MPLO), from Cyberlink Software Solutions, Inc. has consulted its personal wizards and come up with a great point of sale loan origination system at a fantastic price.  This program was created by people who were loan originators with over 15 years experience, and they created a loan origination suite including a prequalifier, an application program, and a contact manager.  All are integrated, meaning that by entering information into one it is automatically available in the others.

     When I received the package in the mail I was surprised to see a leather like personal organizer included with the disks.  Finally a computer software company realized that we don't carry our laptops with us 24 hours a day.  The organizer includes a 40 page user guide (another tribute to a company realizing that most people never  read software guides, so they made a simple on which anyone can follow), along with very intelligent online help and phone technical support should that ever be necessary.  What is good about this system is that it is geared so you can create all the information in the contact manager and than print it out on regular 8 1/2" x 11" three holed punched paper and it fits right into the organizer.  Less work, more efficiency.  That seems to be the whole concept of MPLO.

     From my 18 years experience in the mortgage business, I think it has the best prequalification program in the market.  It permitted me to compare four different loans side by side in graph or numerical formats showing potential savings of one plan versus another for any period of time desired.  It showed the potential savings of increasing the monthly payment.

     At the start up screen you are given the following options: menu, prequalifier, zap app, organizer, and program setup.  The whole program is based on loan wizards.  By clicking on the Loan Wizard icon, located on the bottom of the bar, the wizard will guide you through the initial prequalification questions and will finish with a summary of the results, and completed 1003 and corresponding reports.

You can do the steps manually, but it is so much more efficient to have the wizards walk you through each of the pertinent questions.  If you like to do everything yourself and don't want any help from anybody including a wizard, just click on the Prequalifier button which will bring you to a choice of pre-qualifying the applicant or switching to organizer contact manager and entering the loan applicant's information and then taking you Zap App, which will complete the 1003 for you.  MPLO is a full fledged contact manager which allows you to group the contacts anyway you might want, e.g. borrowers, appraisers, and lawyers.  It keeps track of vital dates like when the application was taken, closed, canceled, and funded; permits detailed notes; and has a reminder section to tell you call back in a period of time.  It goes without saying that the contact manager does all the normal things like letters, notes, setting up appointments, and time planners with each activity identified by a different color.  Tasks to be accomplished can be organized by date or by priority.  By entering appointments, calls, tasks and new client names each day and printing it for you assistant or office staff, everyone is working together knowing what you prioritized for the day. 

     The heart and guts of the program is in the setup section.  From here the home office can update information including various loan programs, ARM indexes, and program guidelines, then e-mail them to the Loan originators in field.  Having the program highlights right on the computer rather than having to go through various lender manuals is a great feature.  The setup permits you set up for each lender and for each loan program creating either very detailed for general guidelines for each.  There are sections for conventional, FHA, VA, GPM, buydown, and jumbo, plus you can create other ones you choose.  For those loan officers who work across state lines, MPLO is capable of maintaining detailed criteria for each loan program by county and state.  This is important, especially with FHA loans.
